Privacy Policy — Retro Pocket

Effective date: 19 October 2026
App: Retro Pocket (com.retropocket.app)
Developer: Katspro Tech UG

The short version

Retro Pocket is a collection of original retro-style games. There is no account, no sign-in and no profile. The games themselves run entirely on your device and work offline, and we do not collect, receive, upload or store any personal information about you.

Three things do reach the internet, and each is described in full below: the advertising shown between games, which is how the app is paid for; a small remote configuration request that tells the app which ad formats are currently switched on; and the optional card payment you can make if you choose to remove the ads, which is handled by a licensed payment provider.

1. Who we are

Retro Pocket is published by Katspro Tech UG ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. It applies to the Android app Retro Pocket.

Retro Pocket is an independent app. Its visual style is inspired by classic handheld consoles, but it is an original design, every game in it is an original work, and it is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or otherwise connected to Nintendo, Sega, Atari, Sony or any other console manufacturer. All product names, logos and brands are the property of their respective owners.

2. Information we collect ourselves

None. Retro Pocket has no sign-up, no login and no user profile. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, messages, files, precise location or any other personal information. The only server we operate exists solely to take card payments for removing ads, and it never receives anything that identifies you — only the install identifier and purchase reference described in section 7, and only if you choose to buy. We do not use analytics, crash-reporting or attribution SDKs of our own. There is no advertising identifier or other identifier that we use to follow you between apps.

3. What the app keeps on your device

So that your progress survives closing the app, Retro Pocket saves a small amount of game data in local storage on your device. It never leaves your device, and we never see it. It is:

This data is stored in the app's private storage and is not readable by other apps. You can erase all of it at any time by clearing the app's data in Android Settings (Apps → Retro Pocket → Storage → Clear data) or by uninstalling the app.

One caveat: the app allows Android's own backup feature to include its data, so if you have device backup switched on, Android may store a copy of the items above in your Google account. That backup is operated by Google under Google's Privacy Policy, not by us, and you can turn it off in your device's backup settings.

4. Advertising (the main way data leaves your device)

Retro Pocket is free and is funded by advertising provided by Google AdMob. The app can show three formats: a banner on the menu, a full-screen interstitial between games (shown sparingly, never on launch), and an optional rewarded ad that you choose to watch in exchange for an in-game bonus, such as extra coins or a continue. Rewarded ads never play on their own.

To serve ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect and process:

This data is used to select, deliver, cap and measure advertising, and to detect invalid traffic. It is collected by Google, not by us; we receive only aggregate reports (for example, how many ads were shown), which do not identify you. For details, see:

5. Your advertising choices

If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland. The app shows you a consent form (provided by Google's User Messaging Platform) on first launch, before any ad is requested. Ads are personalised only if you consent. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time from inside the app: Settings → PRIVACY / ADS.

Everyone. You can limit ad personalisation in Android Settings (Privacy → Ads, or Google → Ads depending on your device), and you can reset or delete your advertising ID there. The games themselves are fully playable without any of this; if ads fail to load, the app simply carries on without them.

6. Remote app configuration (Google Firebase)

The app reads a small configuration document from Google Firebase Firestore to learn which ad units and ad formats are currently enabled. This lets us turn an ad format off without shipping a new version of the app. The configuration contains no personal information, and the app sends no personal information with the request. As with any internet request, Google necessarily sees your IP address and basic connection information, and Firebase may process a limited amount of device and app information to serve the request. See https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy.

The app does not use Google Analytics for Firebase, Crashlytics, or any other analytics or tracking SDK.

7. Removing ads: card payments

You can pay to remove the banner and interstitial ads for a fixed period (for example a month or a year). This is entirely optional, and the app is fully playable without it.

Payments are processed by PesaPal, a licensed payment provider, on their own secure checkout page, which the app opens in your browser. We never see or store your card number, expiry date, security code, name, address or email address, and neither does the app — those are entered directly into PesaPal's page and handled by PesaPal under PesaPal's privacy policy. Prices are shown in US dollars.

To keep track of who has paid, and to restore that state when you reopen the app, the app sends our small payment server the following, and nothing else:

The server stores a record consisting of that install identifier, the order reference, the plan, the amount and currency of the transaction, its status, and the time it was created. It does not store your name, email address, card details, or the advertising ID, and it holds no other information about you. Payment is confirmed by the server asking PesaPal directly, over an encrypted connection, rather than by trusting anything the app says.

When a paid period ends, the ads simply return; no reminder, message or charge follows, because the app stores no payment instrument and cannot charge you again. All charges are one-off and made only when you complete a checkout.

8. The rating prompt

Every few times you open the app — and if you tap Settings → RATE APP — the app may ask Google Play to display its rating dialog, using the official Google Play In-App Review API. The dialog is drawn and handled entirely by Google Play. We never learn whether you rated the app, what you wrote, or anything else about you from it, and the app collects nothing for that purpose beyond the local open counter mentioned in section 3.

9. Information we never collect

Retro Pocket does not request and cannot access your location, contacts, calendar, camera, microphone, photos, videos, files, messages, call logs, health data, or the data of any other app. It has no file-browsing capability at all. It never receives or stores your payment card details, bank details, name, postal address or email address — those go only to the payment provider's own checkout page (section 7).

10. Permissions the app requests, and why

These are all the permissions the installed app declares. The network and advertising ones are added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK that serves the ads described in section 4.

PermissionWhy
INTERNET, ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE To load ads and the remote configuration, to notice when you are offline so the app can skip ad requests, and to open the payment checkout if you choose to remove the ads. Without a connection the games work normally, minus ads
com.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID Added by the Google Mobile Ads SDK so the advertising ID can be used for advertising, as described in section 4
ACCESS_ADSERVICES_AD_ID, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_ATTRIBUTION, ACCESS_ADSERVICES_TOPICS Part of Android's Privacy Sandbox; also added by the ads SDK so that it can use the system's advertising and attribution APIs instead of only the advertising ID
WAKE_LOCK, FOREGROUND_SERVICE Added by the ads SDK so that an ad can finish loading or display while the screen is briefly idle; the app itself keeps no background service running

The app requests no storage, location, camera, microphone or contacts permission.

11. Children

Retro Pocket is not directed at children. It is intended for users aged 13 and over (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country), and we do not knowingly collect information from children. The app configures its advertising as not directed to children and requests only "G" (general-audience) rated ad content. If you believe a child has provided information to the app, contact us at the address in section 16.

12. Retention and deletion

13. Your rights

We hold no personal data that could be used to identify you. Where the advertising data described in section 4 is concerned, Google acts as an independent controller; please contact Google (see section 4) or use the controls in your device settings. If you are in the EEA, the UK, Switzerland, California or another region with data protection laws, and you have a question about this policy, about the app's data practices, or about a payment record we hold, contact us at katsprotechug@gmail.com and we will respond — including deleting a payment record on request.

14. Security

The app communicates with Google's services and with our payment server over encrypted HTTPS connections. Payment amounts and completion are verified by our server against PesaPal directly, so a payment cannot be faked by the app or by anyone intercepting it. The payment records we hold contain no name, email address or card details, so there is little of value to be breached.

15. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Effective date" above and publish the new version at the same address. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes on Google Play.

16. Contact
